Passengers And Their Wahala…

I didn’t know the way a public bus driver should drive must be different from that of a private car owner until now. Or how do you explain passengers’ expectation of drivers suddenly becoming fast and furious on Lagos roads when we all can see that there are no escape routes from traffic? Our bus driver got to a T junction at Oregun just when the light turned red. Passengers expected him to still try to make it. When one of us saw the driver would rather obey rules, she uttered. “is this what we paid 150 naira for? See the way he is driving like private car owner”… I frowned at but also ruminated on her words. I concluded, even if these drivers want to do right, they do not receive the right encouragement from the necessary quarters.
